Between the Walls - All-Girls Robotics
October 15, 2010
This blog talks about the FeMaidens, an all girl robotics team mentored by Hillary Mallar, is an inspiring example of bridging the gender gap that's apparent in engineering. For this year's FIRST competition, the team has split up into 5 organized subgroups (electronics, construction, pneumatics, "mini-bot",and public relations) with a leader directing each section. Each of the girls communicated clearly with each other, a skill atypical among graduate students, and all of them seemed invested and interested in their work.
